Golden Anniversary Luncheon

A fundraising and celebration luncheon steeped in history
May 17, 2019 @ 11:30AM — 1:30PM at the Hyatt Regency Denver Convention Center 650 15th Street Denver, CO 80202
Join us in meeting community leaders, participants in our programs, talk with our founder David Henninger, and enjoy a tasty meal. This year we celebrate 50 years of success. For the last 26 years this luncheon has been held in honor of the MacDonald Family and Van MacDonald.
Around 1940, a young Van Bruce MacDonald was diagnosed with severe mental illness. His parents, Don and Grace, sought the best psychiatric care available. At the age of 14 Van was diagnosed as “too ill to treat” but his parents continued their search for help. Eventually, Van was correctly diagnosed as having Asperger’s Syndrome. With lots of help and support, Van was able to live an independent life. He earned two master’s degrees in physics, was an accomplished pianist, and was a daily visitor and employee at Bayaud Enterprises, his home away from home. Van worked at Bayaud for nearly 38 years, until he passed away in 2011.
The MacDonald Family has come to symbolize what Bayaud is all about – a community that embraces differences and seeks to include everyone in the mosaic of what makes life worthwhile. We are all part of the human experience that emanates from the heart and we accept every individual for who they are and where they are in their own life journey.
