What We Do

Bayaud Enterprises was founded in 1969 to alleviate barriers to self-sufficiency for adults living with mental health and other disabilities. Now we also serve metro Denver adults and families from other underserved populations. We believe nothing is more fundamental to economic self-sufficiency than employment. In addition to our social enterprises that create jobs and job training, Bayaud services include job readiness training, and job placement services, including paid work experience for adults experiencing homelessness, mental health and substance use counseling, resource navigation, benefits acquisition support, adult education, and access to mobile laundry and shower services as well as our food pantry to reduce food insecurity.

PROGRAMS

Center for Opportunity, Rehabilitation, and Employment provides job readiness vocational evaluations, and job placement services. Our DayWorks program provides transitional work experience through day labor jobs for adults experiencing or at risk for homelessness, mobile laundry and shower services and access to our food pantry to reduce food insecurity.

Community Resource Navigation includes assistance with public benefits acquisition, mental health counseling, substance misuse, linkages to external community resources, and emergency/supplemental food and hygiene supplies.

Social Enterprises creates jobs for our constituents through various ventures including contracts with federal agencies that provide integrated supported employment, document/hard drive destruction, product assembly, temporary staffing, environmental services, and unarmed security.

SUCCESS STORIES. . .

Stephanie was living in her car when she heard about Bayaud’s mobile Laundry Truck. “It was the best thing ever! I got to know folks at the laundry and get my clothes washed.” Clean laundry was just the first step in her journey with Bayaud. She enrolled in the Adams County Day Works and then started working part-time for Bayaud in the temporary shelters. Now she’s a Field Lead with the Laundry Truck. “I love being out in the field getting to know the people. I can relate to what they’re going through and I can help them. I listen to them and can even refer them to the Day Works programs.”

A US Army veteran, David found himself unhoused and without a job. “I had some rough nights,” he said. David happened to connect with Bayaud’s DayWorks program and gained transitional work
experience at parks and farmer’s markets worksites. With the help of a Bayaud Employment Specialist and DayWorks staff, David now has a full-time job at the University of Colorado Anschutz Campus and has secured housing. “I thought maybe veterans had been forgotten, but I’ve been treated so well. I feel truly blessed.”
