Community Outreach

Bayaud aims to meet people where they are to raise awareness of available programs and services for metro area adults and families living in extreme poverty or experiencing homelessness. A shower and clean laundry are overlooked yet essential components toward alleviating barriers to attending school, obtaining a job, or securing housing.

Food security for low-income households is another persistent challenge to achieving long-term physical and mental health and self-sufficiency in metro Denver.

The only criteria for accessing Bayaud’s low-barrier services is an expressed need for assistance.

Responding to Community Need

Bayaud’s Mobile Laundry and Shower Services Program is based on feedback from unhoused constituents, Colorado’s first mobile laundry. This service represents a core component of our outreach efforts.

Bayaud collaborates with public libraries, schools, houses of worship, and other organizations across metro Denver to station our shower and laundry trucks where people experiencing homelessness are likely to gather; reaching more than 1,000 adults and families annually.

To reduce food insecurity, Bayaud Pantry supplies are now distributed from our laundry and shower trucks to low-income single adults and families.

Laundry & shower services

Free mobile laundry and shower services in the Denver metro area to unhoused community members in need.

Food pantry

Twice per week food distribution is offered to Bayaud constituents and near neighbors in need. The Pantry is open Mondays and Thursday’s 9 am – 1 pm.

Truck operators are former consumers who are now Bayaud employees paid to connect other adults in need to our mobile services and introduce them to Bayaud’s continuum of services and other community resources.  By meeting people literally where they are, in line for a shower or waiting for food, truck operators are able to circumvent barriers such as transportation, childcare, or physical mobility that might otherwise prevent meaningful engagement about available community-based solutions to personal challenges.  After addressing the immediate needs of our laundry/shower truck or food consumers, we anticipate these outreach efforts will lead to an increase in securing longer-term consumer engagement that could involve support with job readiness, job placement, acquisition of disability benefits or health care navigation.
