David Henninger’s fierce advocacy for marginalized people has given a hand up to thousands of Coloradans in need.  He founded Bayaud Enterprises in 1969 to provide employment and services that support self-reliance for people with physical disabilities and mental illness, and for individuals and families experiencing homelessness. After 50 years of servant leadership, job creation, and community mobilization he has retired.

David is a rare leader who combines a warm heart for people in need with savvy head for developing and operating self-sustaining social enterprises. He has created a comprehensive continuum of care with programming that supports economic self-reliance and social well-being for 2,000 persons a  year. As one of the founding members of the Colorado Nonprofit Association, David’s dedication to the non-profit industry makes him a highly sought-after board member and advisor. He shared his expertise as a professor of non-profit management at Regis University and has mentored countless non-profit leaders in starting social enterprises, management, ethical leadership, and community advocacy. David’s humility, grace and incredible intellect will be missed by everyone at Bayaud Enterprises. While David is onto his next adventures in retirement, he will continue to guide Bayaud as a member of the Board of Directors.
